This question must have atleast once came across your mind or if it hasn’t it still a pretty cool question! Aren’t we all addicted to google maps for everything and fear that one day they start charging money from us!! Scary!!!! Well that is not happening anytime soon so lets chillax!!So, google maps started like back in 2005 when facebook started! Facebook charges money from Advertisements and data analytics but google maps is just free! Well yes, google maps is free but it charges money from the companies using maps as API to provide navigation services like Uber,Ola,Swiggy etc. So, lets get into the core of it.

Let dive deep into the data, so according to the data google charges around 10$ for half a million usage. Uber uses around 3 million api hits per day which is roughly=10$*6*70(INR)=Rs4,200 or 60$ per day which in turn for month is Rs4200*30=Rs126,00 which is not big as Uber earns about 100X or so!

And that’s highly discounted keeping in mind that Uber is a promotion of Google Maps and the other reason relates to Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc. Alphabet has a 5.2 percent stake in Uber.
